What we learn here.
« on: March 19, 2020, 10:42:10 PM »
Today I've learned a lot about Mad Max movies, about feral children, about Thunderdome festivals and hardcore bands :cussing: ,  and and a combination of all that in my poor brain.  :dizzy:
I've learned that whatever you search in google w¡th the word "band" at the end it shows you a group of music from the Hell itself >:D
and I learned that Semmelweis discovered that the incidence of puerperal fever could be drastically cut by the use of hand disinfection in obstetrical clinics (today Google Doodle). I alraedy knew how to wash my hands :D

Today I know a little better some things about Washington State, the Olympic Mountains and a lighthouse near there called Point Wilson light -don't confuse with another Point Wilson in Victoria (South of Australia)-.
I thought that our lighthouse have been at any time without light and then there was a shipwreck  but no. Some keepers saw shipwrecks during the daylight and was not their fault. During WWI they were encouraged to plant  potatoes, carrots, garlic,... because the food shortage by the war. Now lighthouses don't need keepers staying there because most of them are automatic, but our lighthouse buildings need voluntaries to be restored again.

Nows a good time while we wait for new levels to ensure you have an amazing way to take notes for levels. Write down alllll the things. You never know when you will need them

I'm personally trialling using Google sheets.
I have a tab for each trail and essentially creating a table with level numbers, level url, level title, image name, text, and source code hints. And then. Notes on the side as to how I worked it out.

What's everyone else doing?

Previously I used MS Word or NotePad on Windows.

Not sure what I'll do this time around.  Maybe Word again...though Excel might be something I'll try (I have the MS Office 365...)
Numerics: 20/40 (need to redo)

I used word previously. Opted for sheets so I could have a cloud base and access from anywhere. I don't want to lose my notes again. I'm sure ei have my old notes on a USB... But where.
.
Im hoping excel may help if I need to sort or find something. And keep it nicely aligned so all images are in one column. I don't have to wade through lots of writing to find them

My notes of old cwot levels and other riddles I played some years ago were in an excel file that I uploaded to Google Drive and it was perfectly translated there,  you can also download it to an Excel file.
I'm going to prepare a Riddles v.2  file to anotate this new levels as the old file has too many tabs  :geek:

I have old Excel files from the first time around.

This time, I've been using OneNote for the Alpha/Beta test.  I'm starting there and will see how long until I get annoyed.  I like that it's handy on all my devices, etc.... but I am starting to see that it's going to end up HUGE based on the notes I'm keeping.  Lots of scrolling...

I still have my old CWoT notes - at least for the Alphabets, Romans and many of the side quests.  I can't find the Numerics one though... likely on the hard drive that is currently non-functional (well I did get it free from a certain person but it was still going 10 years later lol).
