Do you have a little technique or secret to help you solve levels, or see things in a different way?

Post about them here! :cheer:

Please do not post anything that refers to a specific level. Everything here should be "in general" and can be used for solving riddles as a whole, not specifically.

Your posts may be deleted or edited to maintain level anonymity.

1) Check if the source has any hints
2) Check if the picture has any hints in the picture properties.
3) Throw what you have in Google
4) Come back to a level days later when you are stuck and have a brainwave :P

Free PhotoShop alternatives.

If you want image editing software and don't want to pay for Adobe PhotoShop, here are a couple of alternatives.

GIMP - ACWoT is made with GIMP (at least the images and buttons are) and as such, it has everything you need for those pesky PSD files and un-layering GIFs. It is a PS alternative in every way and is also a fully featured bit of software. If you have the editing chops, I highly recommend it. Available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

Paint.NET is a free alternative that can easily view PSD files without flattening the layers. You will need the PhotoShop PSD plugin (also free) for this functionality, though. I also believe this only works for Windows PCs.

GoogleDocs. You can upload a PSD file to your Google Drive and then preview it. Sometimes, though not always, the individual layers are shown. I have little to no experience with this, but hear it works decent enough for most situations.

I find I am more likely to find "things" if when changing the url I do it from the source page - That way i notice when things change :)
Use the view-source: trick :)

Hi!

On your phone you can write before https "view-source:", and you can see source code.

Note, that this does NOT work on iPhone/iPad (thanks trinih)

There are Apple apps that will do this, though most cost money. You can also Google "view source on iPhone" and find that there is a work-around. You will need to create a bookmark of any page, then edit the bookmark to include some JavaScript code. Once done, you can go to any page, then click the bookmark you created to show you the source code for that page.

It is a bit cumbersome, but is possible.
