Levels 31 - 40 / Re: Level 38
« on: May 14, 2020, 04:27:10 AM »
got 38, and as much as I hate admitting it... It was easy once you are on the right track with understanding BliZZ hints (damn you!)
I know its not much consolation now, but when you will get it, everything in this level will click into place.

Tigers
Solon got it! Your turn.

Levels = Tiers
the first (letter in) grimalkin = g
over indicates you put tiers "over" g to get tigers.
A Grimalkin is an archaic term for a cat

How to PM a Mod For Help

As our numbers grow, we are getting more and more requests for help. What would be helpful for both players and mods is specific requests when pming. This let's us help you in a timely manner without repeating what you know. We really can't work with "I'm stuck in level 3. I don't understand the hints. Help." this doesn't let us know what you've tried what you are thinking or what you have found.

As such, we've created a general template you may like to use or generally follow when asking for help.

LEVEL X
I have tried this line of thought with the following answers which are all 404s
I have found this egg...
Would I be correct in thinking I have to do X?
Is this the right train of thought to try X?

It would also be really helpful if you could pm us back if what we hinted you towards was helpful, if you got the next level or if you completely didn't understand our hint/push in the right direction.

We are happy to work further with you, but as you go deeper into the trail hints become less... Obvious. We expect you to be trying all the words from the source, trying different file extensions, trying different keywords and googling what you have.

We would also like to ask that you don't pm multiple mods at the same time, or if you do (because you see another mod jump on and want an answer faster) please let the first person you pmed know that you don't require a reply. Mass pming all mods/blizz for help at the same time is frowned upon.

If all else fails, take a deep breath, take a break and come back later. Sometimes the answer just smacks you over the head when you look at it with fresh eyes.

Happy riddling everyone!

Don't forget we all get stuck somewhere along the way. Some levels just click and others you quite literally can't see what is right in front of you!

If you want your Private Message (PM) inbox to look and perform more like a regular mailbox (and the old CWoT style):

Click on "My Messages" in the forum navigation menu.
Above the messages list you will see a link for "Messages" "Actions" and "Preferences"
Hover over Preferences and then check "Change Settings."

Make your settings like this:

Display personal messages: As a Conversation
Show most recent personal messages at top.: Checked
Show a popup when I receive new messages.: Checked (optional)
Save a copy of each personal message in my sent items by default.: Checked
Remove the inbox label when applying another label: Checked

Remember to save your changes.

Terminology.

One thing you will need to get an understanding of is forum terminology.

A forum is compromised of various parts. The entire page here is the forum. Inside the forum you have categories.

A category is the main topic of a specific section. All category names appear on the banner above those particular boards. "Numeric Level Help," as an example, is the category for that section of the forum.

Inside the categories you have boards. "Levels 1 - 10" is a board inside the "Numeric Level Help" category.

Once inside the various boards you have threads. A thread is a specific topic of the overall category. Oftentimes, threads are also called topics.

The individual replies inside the topics are called posts. These are your replies or questions to that particular thread.

So, we would have the your post asking for help inside the  "Level 1" thread/topic, this is inside the "Levels 1 - 10" board, that is inside the "Numeric Level Help" category, that sit in the ACWoT Member Society forum.

That should help you understand the navigation terms of the forum.

1) Check if the source has any hints
2) Check if the picture has any hints in the picture properties.
3) Throw what you have in Google
4) Come back to a level days later when you are stuck and have a brainwave :P

I've found a couple of eggs but was playing from my phone so no source code etc. Will hopefully be able to jump online now

Hi!

On your phone you can write before https "view-source:", and you can see source code.
